Introduction to the ProLon Fasting Mimicking Diet and how to incorporate fasting into your practice

Presented by Michael Thomsen

This webinar presents a unique opportunity to stay ahead of scientific breakthroughs in the fasting field. Followed by a Questions and Answers session for an interactive discussion.

Intermittent fasting diets are the most popular and fasting growing diets. Healthcare practitioners need to know the mechanism of action and medical benefits of fasting and intermittent fasting diets to provide patients with informed guidance. Strategic use of intermittent fasting has significant benefits and is quite simple to administer and incorporate into daily life.

Michael will be sharing the latest insights into intermittent fasting with the Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD).

Five days of water fasting is required to achieve mild ketosis and autophagy. Autophagy is the natural process of recycling old cells or cellular debris. Research has shown that the re-feeding phase is associated with a surge in adult stem cells that induce regeneration.

FMD has been shown in mice to lower IGF-1, extend longevity, lower visceral fat, reduce cancer incidence, and modulate the immune system in mice. Re-feeding was associated with elevated number of stem cells and tissue regeneration. FMD furthermore promoted hippocampal neurogenesis and cognitive performance.

FMD for 5 days/month/three months reduced risk factors for metabolic syndrome and other age-related diseases in a clinical trial. FMD is currently under intense investigation with over 20 trials underway or completed in Europe and the US.
